When Houston Homes Need a Roof Replacement Service

Most asphalt roofs in the Houston area reach the end of their service life sooner than the shingle packaging suggests. Gulf humidity, summer heat and hail season all shorten it. Once a roof is past twenty years, or the damage runs across several slopes, repairs stop being good value — you pay twice and replace it anyway.

PROOF provides a complete roof replacement service throughout Houston and Fort Bend County. We tear the old roof off down to the decking, inspect and replace anything soft, then install a full system — underlayment, flashing, ventilation and shingles — rather than only the visible layer.

Our owner, Cody, inspects every roof himself before quoting and stays on site through the work. You receive a written estimate with the materials specified, so you know exactly what is going on the house and what it costs before anything starts.

We replace roofs across Sugar Land, Richmond, Missouri City, Katy, Stafford and the surrounding Houston communities, and most homes are completed in a single day.

What Our Roof Replacement Service Includes

A replacement is a full system, not a new layer of shingles. Every job works through the same stages, and you see photos of each one.

Full Tear-Off

The old roof comes off completely, down to the decking.

We strip the existing roof rather than laying new shingles over it. Covering an old roof hides whatever is failing underneath and shortens the life of the new one. Tear-off is the only way to see the deck and the flashing properly.

  • Old shingles and underlayment removed
  • Site protected and debris contained
  • Magnetic sweep of the property afterwards

Deck Inspection & Repair

Soft or rotted decking replaced before anything new goes down.

With the roof off, we check the decking across every slope. Soft or water-damaged sheathing is cut out and replaced. If we find more than the estimate allowed for, we stop and show you before carrying on — no decking work is added to an invoice without your approval.

  • Every slope sounded and checked
  • Damaged sheathing cut out and replaced
  • Any extra work priced before it starts

Underlayment & Flashing

The layers under the shingles that actually keep water out.

Flashing fails before shingles do, so a replacement is the right time to rebuild it. We install new underlayment across the deck and replace flashing at every penetration rather than reusing what was there.

  • Synthetic underlayment installed
  • New flashing at chimneys, vents and skylights
  • Valleys and edges detailed properly

Shingle & Roofing Systems

GAF and CertainTeed systems, with the options explained before you choose.

We are certified installers for GAF and CertainTeed, and we fit architectural asphalt shingles on most Houston homes. Metal and flat roofing systems are available where the property suits them. We explain the differences in cost and lifespan and let you decide.

  • Architectural asphalt shingle systems
  • Metal and flat roofing options
  • Colour and profile chosen before the order

Ventilation & Drainage

Attic ventilation and water flow checked as part of the job.

Poor ventilation cooks shingles from underneath, which is a real problem in Houston summers and a common reason roofs fail early. We check intake and exhaust while the roof is open and correct what needs correcting.

  • Ridge and intake ventilation assessed
  • Vents and boots replaced
  • Gutter and drainage flow checked

Storm & Insurance-Funded Replacements

Documentation and estimates for a replacement after storm damage.

Many replacements in this area follow hail or wind damage. We photograph every slope, document the damage and provide a detailed written estimate you can give your insurer. You file the claim; we meet your adjuster on the roof and prove what the storm did.

  • Every slope photographed and dated
  • Detailed written estimate for the carrier
  • We meet the adjuster on site

The Proof Difference

Shingling Over an Old Roof vs a Full Replacement

The cheapest quote usually involves leaving the old roof where it is. Here is what that costs later.

Covering the old roof

  1. 01
    Problems stay hidden.

Rotted decking and failed flashing are covered up rather than fixed.

  2. 02
    The new roof ages faster.

Trapped heat between layers shortens the life of the new shingles.

  3. 03
    Warranty cover is limited.

Manufacturer coverage can be affected when shingles are laid over an existing roof.

  4. 04
    Extra weight on the structure.

Two layers of shingles put additional load on the roof frame.

PROOF full replacement

  1. 01
    The deck is inspected.

Every slope is checked and damaged sheathing is replaced.

  2. 02
    The system is installed properly.

New underlayment, flashing and ventilation, not just a new surface.

  3. 03
    Full warranty cover.

Manufacturer coverage plus a 10-year workmanship warranty in writing.

  4. 04
    Clean start.

One layer, correctly fastened, with the old material removed from site.

    Common questions

    Roof Replacement Questions

    01

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most homes are completed in a single day. Larger or steeper roofs can run into a second day, and we never leave a roof open overnight.

    02

How much does a roof replacement service cost in Houston?

It depends on the size of the roof, the pitch, the material and how much decking needs replacing. You get an exact figure in writing after the free inspection — we do not quote over the phone, because those numbers are always wrong.

    03

Should I repair or replace my roof?

If the damage is localised and the roof still has years left, repair. If it is past twenty years or the damage runs across several slopes, replacement usually costs less over time. We show you the photos behind the recommendation and price both.

    04

Can you put new shingles over the old roof?

We do not. Covering an old roof hides failed decking and flashing, traps heat that ages the new shingles early, and can affect manufacturer warranty cover. Every replacement we do is a full tear-off.

    05

Will my insurance pay for a replacement?

Policies generally cover replacement when the damage comes from a sudden event such as hail or wind, rather than age or wear. We inspect the roof, document the damage with dated photos and give you a written estimate for your insurer — you file the claim and we meet your adjuster on the roof.

    06

What warranty comes with a new roof?

A 10-year workmanship warranty from PROOF in writing, alongside the manufacturer warranty on the GAF or CertainTeed system installed.

    07

    Which areas do you cover?

Houston and Fort Bend County, including Sugar Land, Richmond, Missouri City, Stafford and Rosenberg, plus Katy, Cypress, Spring, The Woodlands, Kingwood, Pearland and League City.
